Unfortunately, a large portion of law suits waged against businesses that offer lodging accommodations is due to air-borne viruses and bacteria originating in the heating and cooling equipment. PTACs happen to be one of the worst culprits for harboring these unwanted contaminates if not regularly serviced. As a matter of fact, almost every manufacturer of PTACs recommends a deep cleaning at least once a year.
The number one customer complaint with PTAC areas, such as hotel rooms, nursing home rooms, etc., is SMELL! Undesirable odors lead to unhappy customers and bad reviews. Although PTACs do a great job at what they are meant to do, heating and cooling a small space, they tend to accumulate mold, mildew, dust, mites, pet odors and a host of other nasty odors over time. This leads to unwanted smells that your paying customer simply doesn’t want or deserve. Trying to cover these odors up with toxic air-freshener sprays and dongles is like spraying perfume on a dirty litter box…it just doesn’t work.
The first step is to do a quick functional test on the unit. After that, we’ll actually remove the unit from the wall and install a PTAC blank that blocks the now-open hole in the wall. We’ll then carefully cart the unit outside for a thorough deep cleaning and sanitization. After that, we’ll cart the unit back to its original location, reinstall and test for proper operation. You will then have a PTAC that’s free from odors, contaminates and worries!
